As I’ve continued to shoot with film this summer, in lieu of paying for digital scans when I turn over my roll for development, I’ve purchased 4×6 prints. My camera store offers complimentary copies, which further sweetens the deal, particularly as I have the intention of both collecting my favorites in books and periodically gifting some to friends.
So when I pick up my latest roll from the store, I receive an envelope containing the negatives and two sets of prints — one set to keep, one set to share.
Or in this case, share via my Instagram Stories as an impromptu, bourbon-and-beer-fueled “review.” I combined the Stories into the video below showing me flip through 14 matte-finished prints while providing commentary and an unnecessarily close view of my un-manicured hands.
As one does these days with any new Instagram-based venture, I garnered feedback from my minuscule following with a yea-or-nay poll on more “print roll reviews.” 18 people voted yes; 0 no. More you shall receive, two whole kickball teams!
